What Cefdinir is and what it is used for:
Cefdinir is a semi-synthetic, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration. Cefdinir is used to treat the following infections: respiratory tract infections, community-acquired pneumonia, acute sinusitis, and skin and skin structure infections.
What you need to know before using Cefdinir:
Do not use Cefdinir:
If you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or any other cephalosporin or penicillin medications.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Dosage must be adjusted according to the degree of renal impairment.
- Inform your doctor in case of diarrhea, as pseudomembranous colitis has been reported with this medication.
- Bacterial or fungal overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms may occur with prolonged or repeated treatment.
Other medicines and Cefdinir:
- Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum interfere with the absorption of Cefdinir; if required during treatment, administer at least 2 hours before or after antacids.
- Iron supplements, including multivitamins containing iron, interfere with the absorption of Cefdinir. If required, take Cefdinir at least 2 hours before or after iron supplements.
How to use Cefdinir:
- Cefdinir is for oral use.
- Adults: 300 mg twice daily.
- Dosage adjustment is required in case of renal impairment.
- Children older than 6 months: The recommended daily dose for children is 7 mg/kg twice daily.
Possible Side Effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop hives, rash, chest tightness, wheezing, or low blood pressure.
How to store Cefdinir:
- Store at room temperature away from light and moisture.
- Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines out of reach of children and pets. Do not flush medicines down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so.
- Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed.
