Product Description:
875 mg Amoxicillin and 125 mg Clavulanic Acid.
To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of (Amoxicillin / Clavulanate Potassium) and other antibacterial drugs.
It should only be used to treat infections proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.
An antibacterial combination of the penicillin class and a beta-lactamase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of infections due to susceptible isolates of designated bacteria in the conditions listed below:
Lower respiratory tract infections.
Acute bacterial otitis media.
Skin and skin structure infections.
Urinary tract infections.
Directions for Use:
Can be taken without regard to meals; however, the absorption of clavulanate potassium is enhanced when this antibiotic is administered at the start of a meal.
To minimize the potential for gastrointestinal intolerance, AUGMENTIN should be taken at the start of a meal.
It may work best if taken at the start of a meal.
Take the medication every 12 hours.
Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets. Swallow the tablet whole, or break the tablet in half and take both halves one after the other.
Warnings and Precautions:
You should not use Augmentin if you have severe kidney disease.
If you have liver problems or jaundice while taking Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium.
If you are allergic to any penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics.
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice associated with Amoxicillin-Clavulanate or hepatic dysfunction.
Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.
The medication should be discontinued immediately at the appearance of a skin rash or other signs of hypersensitivity.
