What is Levocabastine and what is it used for:
Levocabastine is a medication used for the temporary relief of the signs and symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, a medical condition that may occur during allergy season upon exposure to pollen, causing eyelid swelling, itching, and burning of the eyes.
Do not use Levocabastine:
If you are allergic to Levocabastine or any of the other ingredients in this medication. Inform your doctor about any symptoms you have experienced.
Warnings and Precautions:
• Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you experience an allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, skin rash, or swelling of the face or neck.
• This medication is for topical ophthalmic use only. Do not use it for other purposes.
• Ensure you inform your doctor about any other eye disorders you have, such as eye inflammation or eye edema.
• Make sure to remove contact lenses before using the eye drops. You may reinsert contact lenses at least 15 minutes after applying the drops.
• Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to the eye to prevent microbial contamination.
• If you are using more than one ophthalmic solution, ensure there is at least a five-minute interval between each application.
Possible Side Effects of Levocabastine:
Possible side effects include allergic reactions, headache, and eye burning or stinging. Other less common side effects may include coughing, nausea, edema, difficulty breathing, eye redness, fatigue, dry mouth, visual disturbances, pharyngitis, eye pain, dry eyes, drowsiness, tearing, skin rash, and eyelid swelling.
Other Medicines and Levocabastine:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including other eye drops. If you are using more than one ophthalmic solution, ensure there is at least a five-minute interval between them to avoid washing out the medication.
How to use Levocabastine:
• The recommended dose is one drop instilled into the affected eye four times a day.
• Ensure you shake the bottle well. Wash your hands. Remove the cap. Tilt your head slightly back and pull your lower eyelid down to create a pocket. Hold the dropper over your eye with the tip pointing down. Look up and away from the dropper, then squeeze the container to release a drop. Close your eyes for 2-3 minutes with your head tilted down, ensuring you do not blink. Gently press the corner of your eye for about one minute.
• If you are using more than one ophthalmic solution, ensure there is at least a five-minute interval between each application.
