Isosorbide Dinitrate 40 mg Capsules
What is Isosorbide Dinitrate and what is it used for:
It is a vasodilator used for the long-term treatment and prevention of coronary circulation disorders, angina pectoris, and rehabilitation therapy following myocardial infarction.
Do not take Isosorbide Dinitrate if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to Isosorbide Dinitrate
- Acute circulatory failure (shock, vascular collapse)
- Severe hypotension (low blood pressure)
- Hemorrhage
- If you are taking phosphodiesterase inhibitors (such as Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Vardenafil)
Warnings and Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with increased intraocular pressure.
- Alcohol should be avoided during treatment.
- There is a possibility of accelerated hemolysis (rupture of red blood cells) if you suffer from G6PD deficiency.
Possible Side Effects:
- Headache
- Flushing
- Low blood pressure
Other medicines and Isosorbide Dinitrate:
- The use of phosphodiesterase inhibitors (such as Sildenafil, Tadalafil, and Vardenafil) can lead to severe hypotension.
- Orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure upon movement) may occur with the combined use of calcium channel blockers (such as Amlodipine), antihypertensive agents, phenothiazines, and tricyclic antidepressants (Amitriptyline, Imipramine, Doxepin).
- Alcohol consumption may lead to severe hypotension and collapse.
How to take Isosorbide Dinitrate:
- For adults over 18 years: The usual dose is one tablet twice daily.
- Do not exceed 240 mg per day.
- Do not open or crush.
- Swallow whole with water.
- Do not stop the medication unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
- Do not use after the expiration date.
How to store Isosorbide Dinitrate:
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store at a temperature below 25°C.
