Why Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide is used:
Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines two medications that work in different ways to lower blood pressure.
Do not take Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide:
- If you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you are allergic to sulfonamide medicines (sulfa drugs).
- If you have severe liver disease.
- If you have severe kidney disease.
- If you have difficulty urinating or are unable to urinate.
- If you have diabetes or kidney problems and are being treated with a medicine called aliskiren.
- If you are pregnant.
- In children under one year of age.
Warnings and Precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:
- If you have kidney problems.
- If you have liver problems.
- If you have heart problems or heart failure.
- If you have gout.
- If you have diabetes.
- If you are vomiting or have recently experienced severe vomiting or diarrhea.
- If you have low blood pressure.
- If you have ever had a heart attack or stroke.
- If you are taking any of the following medicines: ACE inhibitors (such as enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril), aliskiren, or an aldosterone receptor antagonist (MRA).
Possible Side Effects:
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; chest or throat tightness; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency of these side effects is unknown.
Side effects include:
- Dizziness
- Low blood pressure
- Headache
- Upper respiratory tract infection
Other medicines and Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide:
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, especially if you are taking:
- Other medicines that lower blood pressure
- Other diuretics (water pills)
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and diclofenac
- Lithium (for mental health problems)
- Potassium supplements
- Diabetes medications
- Certain medicines to lower cholesterol such as cholestyramine
- Calcium and Vitamin D supplements
- Corticosteroids
- Alcohol
- Barbiturates
How to take Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide:
- Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Take this medication at the same time each day.
- Take this medication with or without food.
- The usual dose is one tablet once daily.
- Maximum dose: 32 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil and 25 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide.
How to store Candesartan Cilexetil / Hydrochlorothiazide:
- Store at room temperature below 86°F (30°C).
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.
