Product Description:
Extended-release tablets containing the active ingredient Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg, used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes.
Usage Instructions:
Always consult your doctor regarding the appropriate dosage for your condition.
Two tablets once daily with dinner.
Warnings and Precautions:
Contraindications for using the sugar regulator Metformin include the following:
- Allergy to Metformin.
- Chronic heart failure.
- Metabolic acidosis.
- Diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Severe kidney disease.
- Abnormal creatinine clearance resulting from shock, septicemia, or myocardial infarction.
- Breastfeeding.
In rare cases, Metformin may cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis; therefore, patients must inform their doctor if they suffer from kidney disease, as the doctor will likely advise against taking Metformin.
Patients must also inform their doctor if they are over 65 years old, or if they have previously experienced a heart attack, stroke, diabetic ketoacidosis (a condition where blood sugar levels are high enough to cause severe symptoms requiring emergency medical treatment or coma), or heart or liver disease.
Patients should inform their doctor they are taking Metformin if they:
- Are undergoing surgery (including dental surgery) or any other medical procedure.
- Are planning any X-ray procedure involving dye injection, especially if the patient consumes large amounts of alcohol or suffers from liver disease or heart failure.
The patient may need to stop taking Metformin before the procedure and wait 48 hours before restarting.
Patients should inform their doctor if they have recently experienced or develop any of the following during treatment:
- Serious infection, severe diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or if they are consuming less fluid than usual for any reason, as the patient may need to stop taking Metformin until recovery.
Patients should stop taking Metformin and contact a doctor immediately if they experience any of the following symptoms:
Extreme fatigue or weakness, severe nausea, severe vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, skin flushing, muscle pain, or feeling cold, especially in the hands or feet.
